Immersion Learning is currently available through Immersion partner sites such as museums, aquariums, school districts, Air Force bases, and educational service centers that provide programming in their local communites. Immersion is also used in dozens of Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. For information on how to bring Immersion to your community, e-mail info@immersionlearning.org. Seven Reasons to Become Our Newest Immersion Partner Site and Share in Cutting-Edge Scientific ExpeditionsImmersion partner sites have: - The right to host curriculum materials locally: Each Adventure Series is available on Immersion’s password-protected FTP site for coordinators to download and use. Immersion sites have the right to post copies of the curriculum files to a local password-protected intranet site. Print and CD versions of the curricula are also available from Immersion for a nominal fee.
- Several ways to access Immersion programming: Immersion’s featured expeditions are webcasted live over Internet2 and the Web. Expedition webcasts and other programs offered throughout the year provide multiple opportunities for participants to send questions to scientists in real time over the Web.
- New ways for modeling technology integration: Immersion programs offer an innovative model for integrating technology with traditional learning. We offer video, print activities, and Web-based interactives that complement one another. The Immersion website is full of expedition-related resources and links. Our video on-demand service allows educators to play any of our archived videos at any time.
- Special opportunities: We offer each Immersion site an opportunity to schedule a special annual telepresence event with Immersion founder and chief scientist Dr. Ballard. Your community’s exclusive 15-minute event is an opportunity for teachers, students, administrators, and/or funders to interact with Dr. Ballard.
- Professional development training: Each year, Immersion hosts a professional development conference for all Immersion sites. The conference introduces coordinators and other staff members to the science concepts and themes of the various Immersion programs. It is also a great place for sites to share their expertise and experiences with one another. If for some reason you are unable to make it to the conference, we are happy to send a trainer to your site!
