Description: Dr. George Matsumoto is a senior education and research specialist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). He studies the open ocean and deep-sea communities, with a special focus on invertebrates such as jellies. Matsumoto also has a strong interest in educational outreach. This summer he led an expedition on the E/V Nautilus to explore ancient history and learn about the ocean. Nautilus scientists mapped the sea floor, discovered tubeworms and other life forms, explored shipwrecks, and more. Immersion Learning invites you to participate in an exciting live webcast with aquatic veterinarian Dr. Allison Tuttle! Dr. Tuttle is the Staff Veterinarian & Director of Animal Care at Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration. She cares for a variety of aquatic animals at the Aquarium including fish, beluga whales, and stranded seals. You can learn more about Dr. Tuttle’s work by reading her career interview or playing Immersion’s Seal Rescue! game in which you get to be the vet and investigate what is wrong with four stranded seals. During the webcast you will hear about Dr. Tuttle’s work and career path and will have a chance to interact with her by voting in polls and asking questions.
